The M&S and Oxfam Clothes Exchange was introduced back in 2008, for customers to be able recycle their used clothing and raise vital funds for Oxfam at the same time. Since then over £8 million has been raised and has helped Oxfam’s programme and emergency work around the world thanks to you. That’s 10 million garments that have been reused and recycled, which equates to 5,500 tonnes!
At M&S we want to make it even easier to donate your unwanted clothes. We think that old clothes shouldn’t just be thrown out, they should have a future.

So the next time you pop in store to buy something new, drop an old item of clothing into one of our Shwop Drops. Then we’ll continue to work with Oxfam to resell, reuse or recycle it, and help support people living in poverty. Did you know that over one billion garments are sent to landfill in the UK every year?
Our ultimate aim is to collect as many clothes as we sell and change the way we all shop forever. Visit the Plan A website for more stats and interactive features on shwopping.
