It’s fast approaching that time of year that Hollywood loves and single girls dread, Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re snuggling up with a long term loved one, going on a first date, having drinks with the girls or beers with the boys, we wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day. In case you don’t yet have plans for February 14th, or perhaps you’re in need of a little inspiration, we’ve asked some of our favourite M&S Stories bloggers to share with us their idea of the perfect Valentine’s Day date:Â
Lisa Snowdon, model and face of M&S Woman.
My perfect Valentine’s day date would start by being whisked off on the Eurostar to Paris. Checking in around lunchtime at a beautiful hotel, steeped in history, like Le Bristol and having a romantic lunch for two on the roof terrace of the penthouse (seriously – this is a fantasy!). Then we take to the streets, stop for ice cream, try to talk French, get lost in the city before making our way back to the hotel for a decadent meal with wine at every course.

My perfect Valentine’s date would be George Clooney. I think it’s about time he dated someone closer to his own age. Of course it would be fab to hop over the Atlantic and sip cocktails with George on a rooftop over Manhattan. However, I think I should give him the chance to come over to my house and share a fantastic Valentine’s Dine In dinner finishing with my delicious Triple Chocolate Heaven. Lucky George…

I’ve never been a big Valentine’s Day fan (restaurants crammed full of couples trying to out-romance each other are not my thing!) but I’d be a willing participant if it involved Paris – the biggest cliché of them all. After hopping off the Eurostar, first class of course, we’ll head straight for chocolat chaud at Café de Flore or maybe some pastries at the Ladurée patisserie. Next some shopping at local boutiques, then to the big designer stores for a trolley dash – I’m thinking an haute couture version of Supermarket Sweep. Finally, the ultimate steak frites and red wine dinner, perhaps at the Hotel de Crillon. But I’m not fussy.

10 years into my relationship with my beau and still going strong, so it goes without saying that he would be my perfect Valentine’s date! He’s tall dark and handsome and still makes me swoon! (so stand aside, Ashton, Ryan Gosling and Jake Gyllenhaal…) It’s tempting to begin by saying that I’m a girl with simple tastes with not a single materialistic bone in my body, but alas that simply would not be true…so my ideal date would go a little something like this:
·        Breakfast in bed
·        Flowers
·        Perhaps a little gift or two (or even three!)
·        Walk along the river
·        Oysters & champagne
·        Ending with a snuggle on the sofa with movie in tow
Obvious choices? Oh come on girls….you know you’d all love these too!

My first passion is lingerie and my second passion is cooking! So having spent the run up to Valentine’s Day providing advice on how to buy the perfect lingerie gift for a loved one, my perfect Valentines day would be spent pouring through recipe books to find the perfect Valentines meal, and then challenging my (limited!) cooking skills on attempting a new recipe. Pink fizz would be a much appreciated treat and would bring sparkle to the day!

And if you’re interested in getting a male perspective on Valentine’s Date, we asked a certain Mr David Gandy to share his perfect Valentine’s Day date with us…

There is a place called Dunton Hot springs in the Rockies, near Telluride. Its literally the most romantic, secluded place you could imagine…really romantic if you like horse rides in the snow, followed by watching the sun going down over the Rocky Mountains whilst sitting in a natural bubbling hot spring…. and then back to your very own private mountain lodge.

We have just eaten your £20 Valentine Meal. This meal was excellent. We had The tartlet, followed by the stuffed chicken with roast veg then on to the sweet rasberry cream. The wine we chose was the red rioja which was excellent. Well Done a great valentine’s meal.
