The hunt is on for Britain’s best-loved recipe. The Food Glorious Food experts have scoured the British Isles to sample recipes from home cooks all over the country, with the winning dish earning a place on the shelves of M&S.
Food Glorious Food sees Carol Vorderman joined by four passionate food experts, food writer Tom Parker Bowles, globe-trotting gastronome Loyd Grossman, Women’s Institute vice-chair Anne Harrison and baker Stacie Stewart, who have travelled the country armed with rosettes which they hand out to dishes that meet with their high standards. Each judge has their own area of interest. Stacie, owner of online company the Beehive Bakery, is on the hunt for an amazing cake or pudding that the nation will fall in love with; food writer royalty, Tom, is scouring the land for a great British recipe with culinary heritage, Loyd is hunting for a new favourite to match that much-loved dish, the curry, and Anne is championing traditional home cooking.

Each episode visits a different region of the UK as the judges eat their way through plenty of pies and puds, to find six amazing recipes and contestants to take through to the semi-final stages, where two will be picked to battle it out for a place on the shelves of Marks & Spencer and £20,000. The winning dish will then be sold exclusively by Marks & Spencer stores across the country with 40p from each dish sold going to Great Ormond Street Hospital. The first episode of Food Glorious Food will be aired on ITV at 8pm on 27th February.

Simon Cowell, whose production company Syco are working on the show, said “I love home cooking, which is one of the reasons I wanted to make this show. No one can make roast potatoes like my Mum and I’m sure lots of people feel the same way about their family recipes. This is not a show for snobs. This is giving someone a chance to have their recipe sold in a Marks & Spencer store.”
Steve Sharp, M&S Executive Director, said: “M&S is famous for bringing high quality, innovative food to the nation’s tables and we’re always looking for new ideas to whet our customers’ appetites. It’s surely a dream opportunity for any budding home cook to have their much loved favourite family dish sold in our stores – we can’t wait to see what they’ll be cooking up.”

I have finally got to taste the delicious Fragrant White Chicken Korma, loved it…I think the sauce could sell on its own…. the only problem was having to cook rice as well… well done Rahila Hussain and M&S and Good Luck with the Charity.

Unfortunately I didn’t read the reviews on this site before I went out to buy it. It didn’t look attractive in the tray but thought I would give it a go anyway. This dish was awful- the meat is of a poor quality and not cut up into pieces properly and not much of it. Sauce very so watery that i had to leave it in the dish to try and eat it as it would have been impossible on a plate. Can’t believe it won. If this was in a restaurant then it would have been sent back. We threw it away after a few mouthfuls. I love m&s food but selling this dish is far from there usual standard and they should remove it from sale. Will stick to the dine in for £10 next time!

My husband looked forward to trying this curry,as he makes fabulous curries from scratch.he was very dissapointed as the amount of pepper in the curry overpowered any other flavours. We will definately never buy it again, and cant understand how it won the competition

sorry to hear the other comments, but on my second one today of the white corma, the only thing I would say is that it needs rice,so perhaps a small container of rice with the corma would make a difference ,but still enjoying it, still waiting for my freebies ha ha

Hi, I’ve come across this forum as I searched the Internet to see if I was the only one who can’t believe that the korma dish won ! It is the worst curry I have ever tasted, can’t believe marks would use cheap thigh cuts of meat, it was very fatty and grisley, but I also thought the sauce was too perfumery, this was an expensive dish, not enough to serve two. Very disappointed.

Bought this dish a couple of days ago and it was the worst curry that I have ever tasted, it was too hot and watery and cannot believe that this dish was for 2 people. There were much better unusual British dishes to choose from like the smoked salmon cheesecake (which I really hoped would win) the profiteroles or jelly. There are so many curries on the shelves that I cannot understand this dish getting through to the final it was awful.

Brought this for my 10 years old son for his tea he had watched the programme from start to the finish and wanted to try it.
We are glad we only paid £1.25 and not to waste on this dish of £3.99.
It’s more like a Chinese peppery curry dish really awful taste.Chicken tikka massala should have won or jelly and fruit what a let down.
We think the ITV bosses should sack the judges.

I was so dissappointed with this dish. For a start it was incredibly hot which overpowered the taste of everything else – not as billed, as raved about on FGF – very poor and we won’t be buying again.
There is a difference between spicy and hot!!!

I have bought so much lovely food from Marks and Spencer, but can honestly say this is the worst food I have ever bought. I bought it last night for son who was coming for dinner – he is a chef. I bought the one dish as it says feeds two ( 2year olds !). The chicken was awful tough and fatty sauce wasn’t remotely hot and really not a nice texture. However the rice and nan bread was good. It definitely won’t stop me buying food in marks but sorry this was really bad.

We purchased the winning Chicken Korma from the Food Glorious Food show and can honestly say it was the worst Korma we have ever tasted. Infact we could not eat it, We live in the City of Bradford which is the curry city,if we had been in a restaurant we have have sent it back.
There were so many lovely meals and this had to be chosen.
The jelly should have won out of the two and the other was the salmon cheescake

I love korma, sweet, creamy, almonds etc….. But the winner of the dish, i bought 6 boxes, had friends round, and everyone said is awful, horrible, very salty, and too much chilli, and the chicken is awful too. Spend nearly £24 pounds and went straight in the bin. So we ordered a pizza.
No way they won it, no way. We will never buy it again, yuk.

Had watched the series and thought it only right that I try the winning dish. I picked up 2 packs for my husband and myself then realised each pack was meant to feed 2. Didnt look much so we ate the lot. Very disapointed, can’t believe it was the best of hundreds of dishes. Why bother putting this curry through when there are already many many ready curries on the shelves which are far better than this one, and cheaper. I thought the idea of the programe was to find something different. I won’t be buying it again. I think the smoked salmon cheesecake should have won.

Tried this winning Korma yesterday, we thought the sauce was really tasty and yes it is fairly hot but we enjoy a hot curry. Unfortunately though, I was very disappointed that M&S choose to use chicken thigh instead of breast, I like many people do not enjoy chicken thigh, and to make it worse, my first mouth full was stringy and chewy and I found it quite difficult to cut through. Sorry M&S but if you had used breast instead of thigh I WOULD BUY THIS EVERY WEEK but as it is, I won’t be buying it again.

Very disappointed……….far too hot for a Korma and had an extremely weird taste, thought it was vile and will not be making the mistake of buying it again. Only managed two mouthfuls then the rest went into the slops bin where it belongs.

Tried the korma last night and I agree I won’t buy it again. The sauce was weird tasting and watery and the chicken pieces small and tough. We also had the chicken jalfrezi and that was lovely – much better and a winning dish unlike the korma!

The fragrant white chicken curry should come with a government health warning. We have just had this for Saturday night dinner and I have spent the last 40 mins trying frantically to take the heat out of my tongue having mistaken the whole green chilli for a garnish of a single green bean. Stupid I know but nevertheless it was the hottest chilli I have ever had in my life. It should have been clear this chilli is extremely hot thank goodness I was at home. Dinner in the bin now. Also did not rate the curry smelled and tasted purely of white pepper. Very disappointed.

Don’t usually eat Korma, but gave it a try as TV said it was hot.
Very disappointed.
Package states serves Two, if we had have shared it there would have had 2 pieces of chicken each.
Very pricey meal, not value for money.
On: 27 April 2013 Permalink
My daughter treated herself to this after following the series. She was less than impressed with size of the “serve 2″ package – even served with rice. It would barely feed 2 smallish children.
Then she was totally put off by the hair she found embedded in one of the pieces of chicken as she was about to eat it – unable to eat any after that.

I agree. I shop at M & S all the time and never saw an advert for the show- or is it another show designed round celebrities?
On: 28 February 2013 Permalink
I will watch the program, but I want to know:
1. how can people get involved in giving their recipe to the judge?
2. how can judge test the food of the giving recipe?
3. I like to provide my dish with recipe to be judged, how can I participate this?
On: 28 February 2013 Permalink
Yes how do you get your own recipe to Marks and Spencers
