Summer has arrived, and how do we know? Here at M&S head office we’re dressing differently and it’s the summer dresses that are out in force. Those winter wardrobe essentials have been cast to one side and replaced (for now) with lighter fabrics, floaty dresses and magical maxis. We have to admit, we’re glad of a change.
If you’re looking for a style update too, take a look at our top 5 dresses from per una, featured below…

I fully agree with the comments from older ladies asking for sleeved dresses in a longer length. Loved one of last years models a red-crossover style with small butterfly motive in 3/4 sleeve which was sold out when I tried to order. Any more similar ones this year please?

As a 65 year old woman, I and my other friends class ourselves as modern women. We want to be well dressed but not in a tarty way. We need dresses with short sleeves but most importantly we need clothes that are not too short! Most of the lovely dresses we would love to buy in your ranges are 2″ to 3″ above the knee. It would be helpful if you could supply these fitted dressed in a length below the knee. My friends and I are 5′ 7″ tall. We look to M & S for fashionable, elegant clothes. Other places on the high street cater for ‘tat’. This year I have been tearing my hair out to find something suitable and trawling the high street, without any luck. All my friends say the same.

Hi Catherine, thank you for taking the time to leave a comment.
We’ve recently had some new sleeved-dress styles arrive online and we’ve highlighted some of them in our ‘summer dresses with sleeves’ post – http://social.marksandspencer.com/fashion-2/summer-dresses-with-sleeves/ . We do hope there’s something there that you like.
Our mock-wrap jersey dresses are very popular and many come in a number of different lengths and with different sleeve-length options too. We also have some lovely, longer-length skirts which you might like:
