M&S lingerie has a rich heritage of design, style, quality and innovation. Would you believe that we launched our very first bra in 1926? To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this year, we delved into our unique M&S Archives to take inspiration from the lingerie styles which were popular in our own ranges 60 years ago.
Traffic quite literally came to a standstill on London’s Oxford Street when we launched the Jubilee, 1950s-inspired Limited collection. 5 gorgeous models (above) looked absolutely stunning in our archive-inspired collection and caused quite a stir. See the pictures at dailymail.co.uk.
In the early 1950s, bras came in three sizes; small, medium and large. Today we have over 40 sizes in many of our bra ranges, and our cup sizes range from an AA cup through to a K cup! Now that’s what I would call ‘supporting the nation’!
Iconic 1950s lingerie styles included sweater girl conical bras, flirty french knickers, slinky teddies, shaping corselettes and suspender girdles. These 1950s, vintage styles inspired our talented designers to create our unique, sassy, archive-inspired, Limited Collection lingerie, sleepwear and sexy shaping underpinnings… way too gorgeous to stay under wraps for too long.
M&S Lingerie, in my opinion, is as cutting edge and on-trend today as our original styles were in 1952. I hope you love these divine lingerie looks as much as I do.

Hi,
I’m trying to source some French knickers like the ones int he middle picture, bottom row – do you still stock these? I can’t seem to find any on the website…
I need 8 pairs for a stage show, if anyone can help? Thanks so much!

I love the colour of the purple featured in this. Personally I would like to see more suspender belts available across all the ranges. I like to buy in sets but usually can’t find a suspender belt to match. I do like the pants options so I can get a thong and a brief to match the bra.

It may seem strange to have a man commenting on this feature but I am intrigued by the statement of stocking 40 cup sizes from AA to K. I agree that those sizes do exist however in the case of the AA cup there are so few choices. For example my wife, who is size AA, often states she likes a particular design but is unable to purchase it due to the fact that the design does not have an AA cup. I have raised this point with customer services to no avail!

I love the 40′s inspired long line bras, but think the matching pads should also reflect the era eg high pants rather than small bikini ones.

Hi Annamaria, thank you for your comment.
Many of the bras featured come with two or three different matching knicker options, including some vintage-inspired high rise knickers. If you click through to the bra you like and scroll down you should see all the matching knicker options for that bra. I hope that helps and that you find something you like.
