Are you a future fashion designer aged between 12 and 16? Or perhaps you know somebody who is? If you love all things fashion and you’d like to gain some inside knowledge of the industry, enter our competition to spend a day as a fashion designer at M&S head office!

We’re inviting one lucky winner to spend the day with the design team behind our Angel range, where you’ll see firsthand what our fashion designers get up to on a daily basis. Angel is our fashion range for teens, each collection is all about the latest trends - this summer it’s packed with sun-bleached florals, chalky pastels and collegiate-style basics –  so expect to be surrounded by lots of gorgeous products whilst you’re here.

During the day you’ll be taught how to design graphics and shapes for clothing – you’ll even have a go at designing your own Angel garment. We’ll also ask you to help the team identify future trends, and you might just get few samples to take home with you! When it’s all over, we’d like you to write a short blog post to appear on M&S Stories, telling us about your day as a fashion designer at M&S.

Take a look at some shots of the Angel summer collection below, and read on to find out how to enter…

Hi my name is gabby and i am 12 years. i would like to be a fashion designer for the day because when i am older i would like anything thing to do with fashion and magazines weither its designing them matching them writing about them or even modeling them.I think the brand Angel is very unique in its own way for example the brand has clothes for when you want to relax or go to a party there is always something in the collection that is going to catch your eye.All the clothes in the collection are right up my street.I think being a fashion designer for the day will give me a taster of what it will be like as a fashion designer maybe it might even inspire even more. The clothing line isn’t too mature or isn’t to childish it is just right.

Hi, My name is Francesca and I’ve always had a passion for drawing picutres of designs of clothes. I’m quite good at drawing, but when I look at the new designs I’m curious as to where the ideas come from. I’ve recently started sewing and am starting to realise that turning your ideas into reality is a lot harder than I thought it Would be! As I’ve got older, I love shopping and love looking round the shops and what is out there, as well as sometimes looking at online shops (when I’ve finished my homework and jobs!! ofcourse). More and more my mum has to follow me around when we’re shopping, but she dosn’t seem to mind. We always shop in M&S, and me and my younger sister like looking in the children’s department. My favourite things at the moment are the skinny jeans which i would put with the stippy blue and white bird tshirt. I’d like to say you should pick me as the winner because I’ll bring lots of creative ideas along, but am realistic that you will have a massive department of really clever desiners already, but it would be a great experience and i really hope you pick me.

I’m sixteen years young and fashion is a strong passion of mine; I read many fashion magazines and generally keep up to date with fashion by looking at clothing online. I find the ‘Angel’ clothing line very mature for the age group it is aimed at, but this works well due to ‘children’ wanting to look older in the modern-day world of fashion. I believe the line only really caters to one style and could be widened to a larger range of styles. I feel I would really benefit from the experience of working as a ‘fashion designer’ for the day as it would show me what it is really like in the industry and truly sounds like a lot of fun. Thank you for taking the time to read this and considering me for this amazing opportunity.

I would like to nominate my Daughter Beth.
She is 13 and in year 9 at school and at the moment doing her GCSE exam in textiles . This is a text i got off her a few weeks back.
“OMG i got 91 marks in my mock textiles exam which is an A and it’s the highest in our class and the year 11′s”
I’m so proud. I would love Beth to have this opportunity to get experience with a well known company like M&S.
Beth follows her own fashion trend and likes to mix well known brands like the Angel Range with cheaper brands to get her unique look on a budget. She is loving the new range especially the floral and pastel look.
Beth has made a dress for her textile exam and would really benefit some tricks of the trade to help her follow her dream.

Hello! I’m Poppy! I’m 12! I like the marks and Spencer’s Angel range because it has pretty, girly clothes for all girls no matter what shape or size! The clothes would look fabulous on anybody! I also like how they have a teenage range for girls who don’t want to wear kids clothes or adults clothes! Its a great idea! I would love to be chosen because you don’t get many opportunities like this and this would be a great day! I would love it! I like marks and Spencer’s and go there quite a lot with my mum to buy clothes and all of their clothes are lovely! Thank you very much for taking your time to read this! Love Poppy! xxxx

Hey! I’m Megan and I’m thirteen. To begin, I LOVE FASHION and have done for as long as I can remember. Being young, I struggled to find shops that sold clothes that fit young people and still keep up with trends. Then, I came across Angel @ M&S. I was so happy! I found so much in the collection that I absolutely loved and even made a wishlist purely for Angel! I love how you have clothes to suit different people with different styles. I’m an ELLE magazine subscriber, so I can admire the beautiful clothes. I have my own fashion blog and post daily about new trends and clothes I love, I’m also a keen fashion designer and have designed many here: http://www.meganyoung.co.uk/?page_id=613 I have my own sewing machine and love turning designs into reality. This is the perfect opportunity to see what my life could be like.

    Hi,
My name is Amelia and I am 12 years old. The reason why I would like to win this is because when I am older I would love to be a fashion desighner. I have dreamt of being a fashion designer since I was 7! I feel this opotuniity is perfect for me as I love mixing and matching new ideas together. For my birthdays I get fashion design books and I fill them up within about a week!

I love the Angel range as I own alot of Angel clothes myself and I feel they have something for everybody. I have many different ideas and it would fit in perfecty with the Angel range! I dont yet know alot of graphic design but I feel with your department I am sure to learn quickly.

I adapt my own clothes as I grow out of them.

    Thank you.

I love the Angel brand because it is very distinctive and completely on-trend. I think the entire clothing range is suitable for girls my age, and is very appealing.
I would love to be a fashion designer for a day because it would allow me to put my individual skills to use whilst learning new concepts and ideas in order to give me an insightful and inspirational look into the world of fashion: an area which I am hoping to strive into post GCSEs.

I always keep up with the fashion and I like to experiment with clothing and styles to create cute outfits! Within the last two years I have been learning how to make clothing, I have become even more in love with fashion ever since! I like the Angel range because all of the clothing is aimed at our specific age and it consists of very up-to-date and fashionable clothes. All of it is priced well; it is very affordable especially for the age it is aimed at. Also the style is very appealing to our age. I would love to win this competition because I feel that I could gain a lot of knowledge and understanding of the industry. Also I would love to be able to tell my friends that I’m going to London to be a designer for a day! Thank you!

Hello, My name is Rebecca and i am Fourteen years young.
I am currently taking texiles in school and intend to take it as a GCSE and maybe even A level subject.
Textiles is one of my all time favourite things, i enjoy all things fashion would absolutely love to have the oppertunity to design a garment for the M&S ‘Angel’ range!
I have designed many garments for my coursework in school and should be getting the products and everything together to make it soon.
If i had the chance to get an insite into the fashion world i would find it frankly overwhelming as not many children nor young adults get to have these experiences.
I think fashion and design work is one of my strong points in life as i find it a way to express my imagination; drawing things and designing the tiny little details is great because imagining your designs on someone out there and people wearing and liking them is amazing! I would absolutely love to have this experience it would be a real life changer and just an amazing experience in all!
Thank you for reading this and i hope you consider me for this life changing opportunity.

I’ve been making and designing clothes for a while now and presently making my own prom dress; I find it so fun! My idol is Audrey Kitching and it would be absolutely incredible to be as successful as her! (I’m also a huge fan of Twiggy and I base my make-up style on her because her make-up is stunning). I’m very bubbly and have great ideas and I’d LOVE to work as a fashion designer for the day as it would be the most amazing experience ever! Once I have started and completed my A-levels I’m hoping to go to the London college of fashion and study fashion further so this would be an amazing insight to my ideal future career! I LOVE the Angel clothing range and I think I could bring loads of new and exciting designs which are suitable for the age group its aimed at! I’m very up to date with fashion and sometimes 2 steps ahead! ahah! I took art GCSE and I’m doing really well in it, I spend loads of time drawing and designing new things! I have been drawing from a young age and have taken textiles in GSCE and A level as I would love to pursue a career in this industry. I read many fashion magazines and like to keep up with the latest fashion trends. Looking at the ‘Angel’ collection I can say that there are some very fashionable, attractive designs. The clothes are grown up looking whilst being suitable for that age group which will be appealing to younger children and I think that I could help bring a wide range of new design ideas to the collection. Hi, my name is Lauren and i’m 15. I’m currently completing my GCSE in textiles, which i enjoy very much. I have had my mark back for my year 10 project and managed an A. I love reading fashion magazines and got to visit the clothes show last year, which really inspired me. The Angel range would be the way to represent myself, and be in fashion. The clothes you produce are affordable and durable.
If i had the chance to become a fashion designer for the day I would bring fresh new ideas to the table. At my age and at my school, there is alot of competition on what bag or coat people should wear and if you choose to be yourself and unique, people will moan at you for being yourself.

I would love to be picked for this, getting to work with M&S for your Angel range would be the fantastic opportunity I was looking for and I would really enjoy it! I have been seriously considering pursuing a future in fashion design and had been working closely with a pattern maker and designing and making my own garments. I am looking into doing design for college and this would be a great stepping stone to getting started and understanding how it is the business works. Thank you for your consideration.

She has a great sense of style and would like to be a fashion designer one day. I admire her as she not only follows the current trends but also thinks about creating her own trends for the following year and guessing what they might be! She is also unusual as she is half italian and therefore blends both uk and italian styles together. This would be a great surprise and gift for her! Please choose her :) )

I would love the opportunity to gain firsthand experience with the
M & S Design Team, as this would give me more confidence and creativity with my designs. Personally, I believe that this an opportunity like this would be life changing and inspiring for a future career.

I think the Angel range is great for girls of my age group, as it is very difficult to find the balance of not dressing too old or too young for my age. I think that the Angel range is affordable, well made, on trend with the latest fashions and reasonably priced too; above all it gets my Mums approval!!

I love Angel as it is fashionable for all ages. At my age, there is immense pressure to wear the same clothes as everyone else, however I feel the need to express myself differently through loud patterns and daring colours in my style. Hello my name is Ellie Pierce, 12 years old, and I love shopping and always look at the Angel range because Angel clothes are always following the latest trends as well as selling casual, classic clothes. I also like how teens have our own range that is not too young or old for us also that was separated from younger girls because some shops don’t offer this. The clothes have very good quality and you can mix and match easily.
I’ve been interested in fashion for a couple of years and would love to have this experience. I love reading fashion magazines and looking at fashion websites. I sketch different designs and make power- points about it. I would love to be lucky enough to work in the fashion industry one day so coming to work with the Angel team would be amazing opportunity.

Hello, my name is Sophia Seaton and I am 15 years old. I have always had a thing for fashion, whether its reading about it in magazines or going shopping or simply wearing the garments itself. I am currently working on a project for GCSE Art which is title Fashion and interests. The reason I would want this special opportunity to be a fashion designer for the day is because I want to be a fashion designer myself when Im older and more experienced, which is what this massive opportunity could do to raise my confidence about the fashion industry and also could develop my skills for when, one day I could become a fashion designer myself and follow in the footsteps of successfull designers.
The thing I like about the Angel range is that a) it is aimed for teenagers my age (15) and b)its what teens would wear on a daily basis, I know I would. Another thing I like is that the range has a good variety of comforting colours which will bring out the confidence in you to wear anything and rock it out.
I would be honoured if I were the person who was chosen for this one of a kind opportunity to work in the amazing fashion industry and learn how our world is fashionised.
Thank you very much for taking time to read my comment, I very much appreciate this.

Hi my name is Katy and I’m 15. I really love designing clothes (especially dresses) and would love to do it for real. I own some angel clothes and I love them, my favourite is a skirt, I didn’t know much about angel but I saw the range in one of your stores and found so many things i liked. I think it’s really good to have clothes for teenagers as we’re to old for childrens clothes but still to young for adult clothes and sizes. I’m part of a textiles club at school and have designed outfits, made them and done a fashion show in them. I made lots of friends and had fun and it inspired me to design my own stuff. It also inspired me to take DT GCSE even though none of my friends were and i’m so glad i did it. I made my parents buy me a dresss maker’s dummy so i could do it at home and i’ve used it to re-do some of my favourite clothes that no longer fitted. I think doing it for real would give me the confidense to wear quirckier clothes and things i really like but am too scared to wear in public. Please consider me for this as I’d love to know what the fashion world is like.

Next year when I get to choose my GCSE’s I am definitely taking Art, Textiles and graphics. I like to be unique when it comes to clothes and break out of trends to do something new and I’m not afraid to step outside the box. I love bright and quirky colours and patterns that show of your emotions. I love being creative and have a mind of my own. I wish you could be chosen to design some real clothes because it would get me started for my (hopefully) fashion designing career. I would love to actually experience the world of fashion instead of it being my childhood dream.Working at M&S would be a dream come true for me and even if I don’t suceed I know that I have tried. I love the Angel Fashion range because it’s just for Teens it’s easy to wear and great to mix and match with other clothes, and it does not look like it comes from M&S. It’s not the cute little party frocks Mum choose when we were small and it’s not the sensible Mother’s clothes either. It’s
    • Awesome,
    • Novel,
    • Gorgeous,
    • Exciting
    • Luxury
I would love the opportunity to be a fashion designer for the day. It would be great to meet people who work in the fashion industry and to get some tips on how to shape my career so I could join them. I love the Angel line because it looks stylish and comfortable. The patterns are unique and in their own style at the same time. The shoes are cute and suitable for all occasions especially summer and winter. The styles are classic but with their own twist.

I would like to win this competition because when I am older I would like to be a fashion designer and this would be great experience.

So far I have designed and made several items including a bumble bee dress and several tops, all from my own inspiration.

I have wanted to be a fashion designer ever since I first saw the Marks and Spencer’s range for teenagers and children when I was younger.

I am keen to get any experience I can of fashion designing and this would be an amazing chance.

The FashionIndustry is very competitive. I am 14 and need to get my foot in the door, start things early, practice, scooping up any opportunities I can just to make me a bit better. I constantly draw and brainstorm often getting told off in class for it! For GCSE I am taking art, graphics, textiles and costume design. I make garments, patterns and customize all my clothes. This is an opportunity I have been looking for, I love meeting new people. Angel is the first place I go when shopping online, the models are natural, the clothing is on trend brining me the next best thing. The range has almost a rustic/vintage feel mellowing somewhere, which is what I tend to go for. The fit’s right and the quality’s great! It has the perfect balance of maturity but teen image.

‘Hi, I’m Tilly and I’m 13 (a subscriber to Vogue, soon to start textiles GCSE)…and I’m Noni and I’m 12 (a quirky thinker with a flair for photography – a regular contributor to instagram). Together we’re the fashion house ‘Tilliano’!

‘We’re cousins and whenever we see each other we design clothes together – we come up with designs in different categories, like ‘festival’ or ‘beach babe’. We even name the models we draw – and pick our Mums’ names when we don’t think a design is up to scratch!

‘It’s great that M&S has a special range designed for ‘angels’ like us – we especially like the dresses, jumpers, cardigans and the skinny jeans.

‘We’d be so excited to be chosen! We have loads of ideas, we love putting looks together, seeing how something works as part of different outfits. We’re a great team, we’re unique, and would be determined to learn a lot from the experience!’

Hello, I’m Grace, and I’m 12 years old. I have always loved drawing and art from a very young age, with the feedback from my artwork very positive. However, a couple of years ago, I turned my route to fashion. Since then I have loved drawing my own designs, creating them on mini manikins (Harmuika), and wanting to create them in full with a sewing machine. I even love to go researching on the web for the latest designs or wander through shops looking for inspiration. Angel is an amazing range; it sells gorgeous clothes, whether you’re looking for a printed dress or a casual checked top. I especially love the new hot pink bikini for summer, and the beige skinny jeans for a walk in the park. And it’s not expensive, but it’s still excellent quality! Just a brilliant range! Thanks for reading and for offering the amazing opportunity!

Hi, I’m Tess, I’m 14. I love fashion and I’ve always been into designing. (I have loads of books i have drawn and often have a notebook which my friends love to see. My bedroom is covered in pictures, my very own ‘mood board’, lol) I like to wear on trend clothes. What I wear says a lot about me and my personality. Angel is a cool brand because it is very laid back and easy to wear all the time. I like Angel because it’s not like young kids clothes but not adult clothes either. I love the way it can be layered up or minimalist. I think i should be chosen for fashion designer for the day because i have a lot to give and always keep up with trends but don’t like to follow the crowd, I have a lot of new ideas.

Hey, my name is Faith Malima. I am 16 years old and currently studying my A levels at college. Firstly can I just comment on the beauty of the style of the pictures that have been taken; they are truly angelic, ironic as it is that the brand of these clothes is Angel. What stood out to me when I came across these images was that everything about the picture had been made to perfection, the model, how she’s positioned, she looks comfortable which also makes the viewer feel comfortable also, her clothes aren’t too tight or revealing; she looks very casual and still looks wonderful at the same time. These clothes are a great representation of this generation’s teenagers, because looking at the current fashion trends, a lot of the popular designs for young girls’ clothes are quite modest, comfortable, casual, not excessively bright colours and that’s what Angel line have displayed for us which I think is brilliant! The designs really sum up the true meaning of being young and in your teen years, I would definitely look in to purchasing their clothes. I would be absolutely ecstatic if I was chosen to be designer for a day, since I was young I have had the biggest passion for designing and fashion and this would be an amazing opportunity for me. Also I am going to be applying for a foundation in design/fashion next year so this would be great to be able to add to my personal statement, so I can be able to really show my enthusiasm for fashion.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, it is much appreciated.

Hello, my name is Maddie Denhart, I’m 13 and it would be an amazing opportunity to spend a day doing what I LOVE, which is designing and creating new fashions. I’ve always loved doing this ever since I was little and I recently chose textiles and design as my main option for GCSE. I love to go out and see the latest fashions and mix and match my clothing, it really shows my personality by what I wear and I love to experiment with colours and textures I have never ventured into before. What I love about the Angel range is that it is affordable for people who, in the current finacual situation can still feel good about themselves, without needing to spend loads of money. It would be such an amazing opportunity for me to be able to do this and spend this special day within your organisation. Thank You!

I’m Indigo Taylor and I have adored the world of fashion since I was 6, I am now nearly 13 and starting to think about what I want to take for my GCSE’s.
The M&S Angel brand varies in styles and colours to suit everyone’s taste. The things that stand out to me in the Angel brand are the stunning pastel colours and the attention to detail on the designs. What I also like about the range are the different pieces that you can choose to mix and match an outfit for any occasion.
In my spare time I love designing outfits, experimenting with colours, fabrics and designs. Angel is the brand that makes M&S stand out for girls my age.
If I was chosen to design with you for the day I could bring my portfolio of designs and colour stories to show you.
I would be ecstatic if you choose me!
    Sincerely
    Indigo Ella Taylor xxx

I love everything to do with fashion and even attend a fashion design class for two hours each week. I think you should choose me as the winner to come to Marks And Spencers to meet the Angel team because I will take it very seriously and think its a fabulous opertunity that will deffinetaly help me in the nearby future. What I love about the angel range is the variety of colour, texture and great garments for everyday affordable prices that don’t take much persuading of your parents to get! Thank you for your consideration, Emma. X

Bursting with a passion for fashion, that’s me! I’m Ada and I’m twelve. M&S inspires me with not only current designs, but also with their vintage pieces I find in charity shops. They stand out in my retro wardrobe, and are still fashionable. The Angel collection is so fab, me and my sister bought the same jeans. Then (embarrassingly) my mum squeezed into some too! Whatever the trend, Angel brings a fresh edge, from sandals to sweatshirts.
To work with the M&S team, to learn just a bit of their expertise would be amazing. Why me? Because to have the chance to show other girls that it’s not about how much you spend, but how much you treasure the clothes you buy. I would take away a great deal from this experience, hopefully learning the secrets of this timeless company.

Hello, my name is Lily Harris, I’m 13 years old and i absolutely LOVE fashion. Ever since I can remember i have wanted to be a fashion designer and I study Vogue like a bible, this competition would be an AMAZING experience to get a head start in the industry and get a feel of what it would be like following my dream. If I didn’t become a fashion designer I would love to be a fashion buyer or photographer but designing is my passion. I love the quality of Angel clothes they are comfortable, fashionable and so easy to wear. When my friends ask me where they can get the clothes from and I tell them M&S they are all really pleasantly surprised. The clothes are perfect for teenagers because they aren’t to grown up and not to little girly either.

My name is Alisha, 15 years old.

I desire to be intellectual within the fashion industry. I thrive upon goals; my recent achievements within fashion/textile have led me to winning design competitions and my produced garments have hopefully given me the potential to succeed my desires in the future. In my own opinion I believe the M&S clothing range is aimed at a young market by its bold colours and its harmonious design. If I were chosen to recreate a particular garment for M&S I’d construct my ideas by developing a range of aesthetics, embellishments and bold structures. I’d identify a suitable range by initializing my research from opinions of the appropriate market in order for my design to be successful. after all its not just clothing, its M&S clothing…

Hi, my name is Shannon Graham I’m 16 years old.
The reasons i love the Angel summer collection is the colour pallet used in most of the clothing really compliments the warm colours of summer, these colours also create a femininity that over powers the more casual style of the designs, this contrast between femininity and the ‘laid-back’ shows depth into today’s generation of thinking as we want something that will look nice, petty and that will give us more confidence in our selves yet is practical for those not so warm summer days. The wide range of styles in each of the designs in the Angel range is brilliant as it gives each individual the opportunity to express what they like to wear, because at the end of the day that is what everyone wants, to be an individual and discover their own style!
I would love the opportunity to see what a day in the life as a fashion designer is like as i understand so much work goes into each collection and it’s naive to think these designs just appear! i know i definitely want to go into design but i am still unsure about which field i would like to go into as there are so many, at the present time textiles design is what i enjoy most whether that be costume or fashion and finding a job you enjoy i the best thing you can hope to achieve. So i would love the opportunity to discover more about the role of a fashion designer. I know that this experience would give me a a more clear idea on where i would like to go next in my education.
    Thank you.
